Some Reading/Writing advice from a Bibliophile
I am an avid reader. At present I finish at least one or two books a week. I have been an avid reader since the third grade when my teacher introduced me to the fact that books allow you to leave this reality and enter a new one . Let me explain a bit. When I was younger my father took a job in a small town, I mean small as in maybe 200 people. It was a farming community so most of my classmates lived in the country. In town, where I lived, there were a few dozen kids.

Reality vs Expectations - As a Parent fails
For the past few months I have been trying to not only work on new books but also take care of my aging parents while keeping my household functioning. This has been a struggle as we all know there are not enough hours in a day. This normally is something that gets me excited though, challenges to my own potential limitations. I worked in nursing homes, assisted living, and hospitals between my bouts in Juvenile Court adjudicated treatment facilities. I thought I would be

Moving Sucks
So for the past year my husband and I have been working to get moved to a plot of land. The property we have ended up moving to has been a corn field for longer than I've been alive. This wouldn't seem to be a big deal except that means there is no power, no well, no septic. We also have had issues finding a mobile home moving company so we don't have to build completely from the ground up. Thankfully we have now managed to get everything including internet set up. The f

Where did I go?
So I know that it would appear that I abandon this blog but that is not quite correct. Actually I have been working on a different type of writing, novels. Currently I have four books available on Amazon and Amazon Kindle. I have approximately five more that will be uploaded over the next few months. If you want to check out my titles so far please visit my author's page on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/author/a.l.thornton

Where to go from here
So for those who have paid attention my tag line is “putting a little crafty into life.” One would assume since I generally write about sewing, creating, and physical crafts is what I mean. This is both correct and incorrect. You see I believe that imagination doesn’t just stop at what one can create but one can conceptualize and imagine. Being crafty includes new ideas. Being crafty can be seen in the Pagan/other than mainstream religion realm as well. Even realms of s

***I do not receive compensation for any website or product mentioned in this post. These are informational sites I have found useful and interesting.*** So people who know me are aware that I love to go hiking. If the sun is shining I would rather be on a trail than at home. Actually outside of a blizzard and pouring rain I would rather be surrounded by the trees and forest than in my house. This is not always possible as I have many responsibilities including taking car
